The Thames Valley Region

Tech Start-Up – Sponsored by Centerprise International

This category is for the most exciting tech start-ups in the region. Companies must be no more than two-years-old.

Emerging Tech Company – Sponsored by Barclays

This award is open to any emerging tech company based in the Thames Valley – that is more than two years old. Judges will consider the growth of this young company and/or the success of its innovations/products over the past 12-18 months.

Tech SME of the Year – Sponsored by Onecom

This award is presented to an SME that has shown enterprise and invention in using technology to either transform its own business or its clients’. Judges are particularly looking for SMEs that are forging new paths and, through new concepts and/or products, are standing out from the crowd.

Companies with annual turnover up to £15 million that have been trading for a minimum of 2 years are eligible for this award.

High Growth Tech Business – Sponsored by Grant Thornton

This award is open to any company based in the Thames Valley – that has grown significantly over the past 2 years. Growth could be organic or through acquisition.

Judges will consider the reasons for growth so far, and the ability of the company to continue its growth trajectory in future years. Companies will need to show evidence of strong management and a robust business plan.

Innovative Tech Company — Sponsored by Penningtons Manches

This award is open to any company based in the Thames Valley – that has produced an outstanding tech innovation (or series of innovations) in the past 12-18 months. Judges will take into account the success of the innovation (either product, system or service) and its impact on consumers, clients or the general business environment. 

The innovation will most likely have come to market, but judges will also accept nominations from companies in an R&D phase.

Science & Technology Award – Sponsored by Blake Morgan

This award is open to any company based in the Thames Valley.

The award covers areas ranging from software-based and data analytics health technology to life sciences and robotics and space technology – sectors that the region is known to excel in. The winner will be building its reputation and have earned recognition for its truly innovative work in its field.

International Tech Company – Sponsored by Boyes Turner

This award is open to a company with global brand and reach, that has a significant presence in the Thames Valley. Judges will be looking at the achievements and growth of the business over recent years, and its future prospects.

Communications Company of the Year – Sponsored by LDC

This award is open to all types of communications companies – from telecoms (mobile and fixed services) to broadband, from WiFi to networking and cloud-based services.

Tech Employer of the Year – Sponsored by Austin Fraser

This award is open to any company based in the Thames Valley.

Judges are looking for the outstanding tech employers – those IT, telecoms or science-based businesses that have proved themselves great places to work, and where the employees are valued and empowered.

Testimonials from employees and evidence of a workplace culture that attracts and retains staff are welcome.

Thames Valley Tech Company – Sponsored by BDO

This award is open to any tech company based in the Thames Valley– of any size, turnover, etc. Judges will take into account the achievements of the company over the past 12-18 months – whether in the area of innovation, sales and profitability, product development and/or contribution to the sector – and will assess the entrants of other categories to decide the overall ‘Thames Valley Tech Company’.

Tech Leadership Team – Sponsored by Goringe

Judges are looking for outstanding leadership teams that are driving their tech companies to greater heights. The management team will be innovative, game-changing and agile, and will have a focus on building the brand and the financials.

Tech Inward Investment – Sponsored by Lambert Smith Hampton

This award is for an incoming tech company that has recently set up home in the Thames Valley and is creating jobs and/or opportunities in the region.
